Dreams and Healing: A Succinct and Lively Interpretation of Dreams
Author: John A. Sanford
Format: Paperback
Pages: 176
Condition: NEW
John A. Sanford has produced in this lively and succinct book a detailed and comprehensive examination of dreams by following the courses of the series of dreams of a young university student and a middle-aged woman. Dr. Sanford describes the unfolding of these dreams and relates them to the lives of the two individuals.
He presents dreams as a wealth of creative possibilities, locked in the unconscious, on which we can draw by learning to understand and relate them to our lives. "Learning to work with our dreams will require from us time, commitment, and study. Our efforts can be well rewarded," observes the author. "To those who are in need, and to the strong of heart, the study of dreams and the human soul is a rich field of endeavor, and it is to these people that this book is written."
John A. Sanford (1929-2005), was a Jungian analyst and Episcopal priest, who worked as a parish priest for 19 years, and descended from a paternal lineage of Episcopal priests. In 1974, he left parochial ministry for full-time work as a Jungian analyst and psychotherapist, lecturing and authoring a series of books, most of them regarding religion, psychology, Greek mythology, and American Indian history. He held a bachelors degree in philosophy and an honorary Doctor of Divinity.
Since those years, Sanford enjoyed his private practice as a analyst focusing on psychology, religion and inner growth and he found some time every day for writing his books. He was a mentor for the Journey into Wholeness conferences from their beginning in 1977. Sanford authored books on serious dream study and interpretation, combining both spirituality and science.
