The Deluxe Edition of The Initiates of the Flame (Paperback)
"A Definitive Edition of the Symbolist Classic by the author of The Secret Teachings of All Ages, Manly P. Hall is widely recognized as the preeminent voice of occult scholarship in the twentieth century, famous for his esoteric masterpiece The Secret Teachings of All Ages (1928). Now, in this "deluxe edition," Hall's earliest work, The Initiates of the Flame, is reborn with a full complement of illustrations and historical introductions.
Originally published in 1922, The Initiates of the Flame is Hall's first exploration—and still one of his most powerful—of myth and symbol. Its pages shine on a light on the inner meaning of symbols including the pyramid, holy grail, flame of wisdom, ark of the covenant, all-seeing eye, sword and stone, the elements of alchemy, and other gateways to the unseen world.
Edited and reintroduced by popular voice of esoteric spirituality, Mitch Horowitz, and president of the Philosophical Research Society, Greg Salyer, Ph.D., this is the signature presentation of Hall's landmark.
The Centennial Edition Reprint of The Initiates of the Flame (Hardcover)
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of Manly P. Hall’s first book The Initiates of the Flame — his classic study of esoteric symbols and traditions and precursor to his masterwork The Secret Teachings of All Ages — PRS is releasing a special Limited Edition Reprint of the gorgeous and rare First Edition from 1922.
Written when Hall was only 21 years old, the First Edition features stunning blue-and-red alchemical cover artwork and marvelous esoteric line drawings – almost all done by Manly Hall himself. Later editions added illustrations by artist J.A. Knapp — but for this special Anniversary Edition, we’re returning to the elegance and simplicity of Hall’s original conception for the book.
Like the 1922 First Edition, this Centennial Edition is limited to 1,000 copies only, hand-numbered, reproducing the content, style, format and color scheme of the first printing (including the dark blue ink used by Hall for the text and illustrations inside!)
Hall travelled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Central America, and assembled a magnificent library. He gave nearly seven thousand different lectures and talks and appeared on numerous radio and television stations throughout the United States. He wrote over thirty-five books, scores of essays, and hundreds of articles.
