Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution is an introduction to Ayurveda, the ancient healing science of India. This book will teach you how to determine your complete constitution, your personal, physical, emotional and spiritual proclivities.
Personal constitution is a crucial factor in determining your current degree of well-being and vigor. Your constitution affects you from conception until death, its influence fundamental at every stage of your life. Learning how to work with your constitution will teach you how to use that knowledge to your best advantage for self-help and self-healing, to enrich your life and the lives of all around you.
Dr. Svoboda's original work on the constitutional types in Ayurveda has been considered a classic for many years. His new revision and expansion of the subject comes after much further research and practical experience. Dr. Vasant Lad points out: "The healing science of Ayurveda is based totally upon the knowledge of "prakriti," the individual constitution. If every individual knows his own constitution, then one can understand, for instance, what is a good diet and style of life for oneself. One man's food is another man's poison. Therefore, to make one's life healthy, happy and balanced, the knowledge of constitution is absolutely necessary."
Robert E. Svoboda (1953-Present), is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training in India, Rober was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra, and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda.
After living in India for more than a decade, he has continued to spend many months of each year there and in other lands. The author of a dozen books, he serves as Adjunct Faculty for the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque and for Bastyr University in Seattle.
